Consultations are the most important part of the appointment

This allotted time is the time to connect with the client and to set expectations for their “hair journey.” Trust is built this way. This time cannot be rushed, in order for it to flow naturally. 

Sometimes, people are unable to articulate their true desires verbally, so it’s necessary to rely on intuition to sense their desires, fears, and comfort zones. Asking questions helps to get a feel of what the client is or is not emotionally ready for. 

Most clients are looking for a complimentary, sometimes different, appealing cut on which they don’t have to spend much time. Time is an important factor, since most everyone has a busy schedule and they not only want, but need, a look that takes less time.

As artists, we also must be careful not to give clients a look that we want for them. We certainly can give suggestions and our professional opinion, but simply doing what we think will look good will not always leave the client satisfied and happy.
